Rising Dust - watch it online now

From the beginning I was an outsider. I set out to make a Maori hip-hop dance film, despite being a Chinese guy who can't dance. Even as a filmmaker, standing alongside the experienced cast and crew we had, I felt like a total novice. Despite that, you welcomed me in, accepted me into your culture, your territory, your respective professions, and it filled me with the confidence needed to get through each day. Rising Dust is all about finding strength from a sense of home, and it's a nice twist to see that reflected in my own journey.

Thank you to the cast and crew, to Julia Parnell and the team at Notable Pictures, to Joel Gallarde and Triple8Funk and to the New Zealand Film Commission Fresh Shorts for this opportunity.

Here is the film, completed.
